Member Volunteers

The Ann Arbor Thrift Shop (AATS) has been serving the local community continuously since 1932. As a designated nonprofit organization, our purpose has always been to raise money for our neighbors in need through the sale of donated merchandise. In 2024, AATS donated over $470,000 for emergency goods and services in Washtenaw County.

How to Become a Member Volunteer

The Shop is run entirely by over 300 dedicated members who are all volunteers. Member volunteers sort, price, and merchandise all donated goods, as well as greet customers, staff the sales counter, and clean/maintain the Shop every day. Each member serves on one of six committees and is expected to work a regularly scheduled shift for a minimum average of 6 hours per month (a minimum of 72 hours per year). Shop hours are currently Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 am to 4 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm.
